Patriots Split Doubleheader, Move to 2-4 on the Season

PANAMA CITY BEACH, FL -- The P&HCC Patriots had a strong showing on Friday, dominating Andrew College 42-0 before falling in a hard-fought battle against St. John River State, 7-4.

In game one, the Patriots put on an offensive clinic, racking up 39 hits. Kinzee Motley led the way with five RBIs, including a home run, while Jaci Parham and Makalah Wiggins also had standout performances at the plate. Pitchers Emily Gilley and Lily Carola combined for a shutout, keeping Andrew College off the board.

Game two was a much tighter contest against defending NJCAA DII National Champion St. John River State. The Patriots took an early lead and battled back to tie the game in the fourth, but a late rally by their opponent proved to be the difference. Kayla Bartley pitched five strong innings, with Carola coming in for 1 1/3 innings of shutout relief. Despite the loss, P&HCC showed resilience and determination.

Coach Robbi Campbell praised the team's effort, saying:

"In game two, we faced the 2024 DII NJCAA National Champion. We matched run for run until the sixth. Kayla Bartley handled her business in the circle, and Lily came in relief with 1 1/3 innings of shutout ball. I'm very proud of our team today. The dugout was energized all day, and the team was having fun."

Now sitting at 2-4 on the season, the Patriots look to bounce back as they continue playing in the JUCO Showdown on Saturday, where they will take on Itawamba Community College and Daytona State College.
