Ruthanne Duffy serves as the Assistant Athletic Director of Operations, Senior Woman Administrator, and Deputy Title IX Coordinator at Patrick & Henry Community College. In her role, Duffy provides leadership for the daily operations of the athletic department, overseeing budget management, payroll, communications, marketing, facilities and event operations. She also manages NJCAA compliance and student-athlete eligibility, working to ensure alignment with institutional, federal, and NJCAA standards.
Duffy plays an active role in student-athlete development and academic success. She implemented a department-wide study hall program designed to enhance academic performance and retention, advises the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), and oversees community service initiatives across the department. As Deputy Title IX Coordinator, she also contributes to institutional Title IX compliance and supports efforts to promote equity within the college community.
In addition to her internal responsibilities, Duffy supports fundraising, marketing, and external engagement efforts, collaborating with coaches, alumni, sponsors, and community partners to build relationships and generate support for P&HCC Athletics and its student-athletes.
Prior to joining Patrick & Henry, Duffy spent a decade at Ferrum College, serving as head women's volleyball coach from 2015 to 2022 after three seasons as an assistant coach. Her responsibilities included recruiting, student-athlete development, academic monitoring, budget and program management, and oversight of all aspects of the volleyball program.
Duffy also brings extensive experience in summer collegiate baseball through her leadership with the Martinsville Mustangs of the Coastal Plain League. After previously serving as assistant general manager and general manager, she returned to lead the organization's operations in January 2025. Her responsibilities include sponsorship development, ticketing, staffing, player personnel, game-day operations, marketing, community relations, and overall organizational management.
A former collegiate student-athlete, Duffy was a starter on a Region XII Championship volleyball team that advanced to the NAIA National Tournament at the University of Virginia's College at Wise. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Physical Education with a concentration in Sport Management from UVA Wise and later earned a Master of Science in Sport Administration from Arkansas State University.
In 2024, Duffy was selected to participate in the NJCAA Aspiring Leaders Program and serves as an ex-officio member of the NJCAA Division II Baseball Committee. Her professional experience spans collegiate athletics administration, compliance, Title IX, coaching, student-athlete development, fundraising, marketing, and event management.
Duffy and her husband, Matt, reside in the Martinsville area with their two children.
